In the Simien Mountains, it's very cold in the night. A sleeping bag is
included in the price, but if you have your own, I really recommend to
bring your own.
In the day, also because of the altitude, the sun really burns, so bring
plenty of sunblocker, and clothing that covers as much of your body as
possible. Also to protect your lips, bring Lip Balm with you.
During the trek there are two groups: you, the scout, and me as a guide
who take the small paths, and then another group composed of the cook,
mule and mule handler who just go from camp to camp. The only thing you
have to carry is a small backpack with your personal stuff.
For the equipment, we provide water-proof tents, including matresses and sleepings bags. But if you have your own sleeping bag, we recommended to use your sleeping bag instead.
The scout is mandated by the National Park. The Simien Mountains National
Park is not a war zone by any means, but very occasionally we spot hyenas,
and there's is also a variety of tribal people living in the National
Park, although very rarely they cause trouble.
Everything is included as stated on the website, from our start in Gondar
to our return x days later. The only exceptions are soft drinks and alcoholic
drinks that you can buy underway at the different camp sites.
